My Lists

I just finished tallying up my trip list for my stay in Texas.  I saw a total of 133 species.  I am quite happy with that number, especially considering that it wasn’t an all-out birding trip.  Although, I did do some birding each day, I also managed to squeeze in many other non-birding activities.  Included in that 133 species list, were 5 new “lifers” for me:

  • White-tipped Dove
  • Crimson-coloured Grosbeak
  • Masked Duck (this is my 500th specie seen in North America — a cause for celebration!!!!!!!!!)
  • Least Tern
  • Gull-billed Tern

Keeping trip lists, a North America list, and year lists are great ways to record memories and accomplishments.  Around 925 wild bird species have been recorded in North America.  My personal goal, before I meet my maker, is to see 600 of them.  That trip to Texas just got me a little closer.
