Great Egrets at the Strathroy Conservation Area

This afternoon I was driving past the conservation area and noticed a rather large white bird.  I went home and grabbed my binoculars and returned.  The bird was still there.  It was a GREAT EGRET.  After watching it for a while a 2nd GREAT EGRET flew into Pincombe Pond (at the conservation area).  I watched the two egrets hunt and patrol the shoreline.  I have lived in Strathroy since 1996 and this is the first time that I have seen GREAT EGRETS in this location.  If you get a chance, drop around and have a look.  They may stick around for a few days.

  2. There was a Caspian Tern a couple weeks ago in the same area which also seemed strange for the area.

I saw a pair of Great Egrets at the Lagoons about 3 days ago. Perhaps the same ones?
